Nigel Peake
I chose to research Nigel Peake as his art work caught my eye. I loved the meticulous detail of his work and his intriguing use of pattern and line to create an impression of the subject. I decided that I wanted to include a similar level of detail in my next animation as I have decided to use Photoshop which gives me the opportunity to make more detailed pieces more easily.
Nigel Peake is an architect/illustrator currently living in Ireland. He grew up in the country side and moved to the city when he began to train as an architect at the University of Edinburgh. He also assisted and tutored in the design units there. His work is influenced by architecture and his use of straight lines and meticulous pattern and detail is an example of this. In he was awarded a Silver Medal commendation by the Royal Institute of British Architects. Peake’s drawings and paintings have been exhibited in various places around the world and he has worked on a variety of commercial projects including working for clients such as Hermes, Ninja Tunes, the Royal Horticultural Society, NY Times, Habitat and Dwell magazine. He has also written books under the titles of ‘Maps’, ‘Shed’s and ‘Ghost Houses’.
