For Tutan Reyes, Crucial Catch is more than a slogan
Reyes struggled through the early stages of treatment, acknowledging the weakness that came with it and understanding the battle he was going through. "You deal with that fatigue," he said. "You realize your body is changing, and that physically I'm not the offensive lineman I was."
And as much as he went into shock and denial at first with the news of his diagnosis, the good news that his cancer was in remission came his way in May wasn't something he was prepared for either.
"That's the amazing news, that's the news you want to hear," he said. "When the nurse told me it was my last day of treatments, I was stoic at first; I needed to see the report for myself. So once I met with the oncologist, he showed me the levels were good, and there's a sigh of relief; it starts to become real for you."
Reyes will be back at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday as a part of the team's Crucial Catch initiative. And as he's done on his Behind The Mask podcast with Takeo Spikes, Reyes wants to use his platform to encourage everyone to be mindful of their condition and to not avoid getting checked by their doctors.

Retired NFL G, Tutan Reyes Interview
Tutan Reyes played on the offensive line at the University of Ole Miss. He entered the 2000 NFL Draft, and was selected in the 5th round by the New Orleans Saints. He played with the Saints from 2000-2002, and then, TR had a brief stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002. Then, Reyes signed with Carolina Panthers and played with them from 2002-2005, and after that he was with the Bills in 2006. He played for the Jaguars from 2007 through 2009, and then had two tryouts left with the Giants and the Texans but they didn’t seem to work out. Strauss : Why do you make it important to connect to the fans?
Reyes : Well… Twitter is the easiest way that I can connect with the public. Everyone is on it. I don’t feel as if I’m bigger than anyone or untouchable so I guess its my way to reach the fans and people that support me.
Strauss : And, what was your favorite NFL team growing up?
Reyes : My favorite team growing up was the Giants. In high school, I wore #87 and played tight end like Howard Cross did who played tight end for the Giants at that time.
