    MP La Hor­quet­ta/Tal­paro Jairam Seemu­n­gal says sports is one of the dis­ci­plines that could in­te­grate the com­mu­ni­ty and con­tribute to youth de­vel­op­ment. He made this com­ment at his South Quay of­fice at the Min­istry of Con­sumer Af­fairs, on Fri­day. To date, Seemu­n­gal has start­ed sev­er­al sport­ing leagues with­in the com­mu­ni­ties of Brazil, Tal­paro, Mun­do Nue­vo and Todd's Road.

    Seemu­n­gal ad­mit­ted to hav­ing a pas­sion for the youth. He was Pres­i­dent of the Cu­nar­ipo Youth Or­gan­i­sa­tion and

    Pres­i­dent of the St An­drew/St David Youth Club Or­gan­i­sa­tion.

    He presided more than 64 youth groups with young peo­ple.

    Seemu­n­gal said: "Sports is one of the tools I am us­ing to in­te­grate the peo­ple. I be­lieve it would help gel the peo­ple and bring them to­geth­er. Over the years, a lot of sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties had died. I am try­ing to re­vive it again. I am show­ing in­ter­est. I be­lieve we can teach the young ones some­thing tan­gi­ble in life." Seemu­n­gal said the Sports Day at La Hor­quet­ta was a re­sound­ing suc­cess. But he lament­ed they did not get me­dia cov­er­age.
