Agan Harahap (born in Jakarta, 1980) completed his education at Sekolah Tinggi Desain Indonesia Design College (STDI), Bandung in 2005. After that he moved to Jakarta and worked as a senior photographer for Trax Magazine, and currently lives and works in Yogyakarta. Agan maintains his artistic practice of photo manipulation to offer a reading of social conditions through a blend of satire and parody.
Some of his solo exhibitions include There's a Fun in Funeral, Mizuma Gallery, Singapore (2021) and The Social Realism of Agan Harahap, Mizuma Gallery, Singapore (2017). Agan is also involved in several group exhibitions, such as Doxa & Episteme – In Search of the Real Deal, Mizuma Gallery, Singapore (2024), Yesterday, I Wrote the Future, Can's Gallery, Jakarta (2023), Living Pictures: Photography in Southeast Asia, National Gallery Singapore, Singapore (2022), and For the House; Against the House: Life Imitates Art, OH! Open House, Gillman Barracks, Singapore (2022). His works are also part of the Sigg Collection in Mauensee, Switzerland; Freunde der Nationalgalerie, Berlin, Germany; and Tumurun Private Museum, Solo, Indonesia.
